Sororities Have
Bias Clauses
BWI Alumni
Group In NYC

According to an article in a
edition of "The Daily
Heel”, at Chapel HUI, N.C., “«ev-
en of the 23 aocial fraternities
at the University of Worth Car
olina admit to having member
ship clauses discriminating either
by race or religion”.
The article further said that
four of the seven sororities on
the campus “-would not discuss
the matter without special per
mission from their national of
fice.”
The dean of men at UNC. WU-
liam G. Long, stated that the
university’s policy on discrimin
atory clauses declares that no
fraternity or soroity may estab
lish at UNC a chapter that has
such a clause.
Fraternities
The seven fraternities at UNC
that have discriminatory clauses
are Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa
Alpha, Kappa Sigman, Phi Delta
Theta, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma
Chi, and Sigma Nu.
The sororities that declined to
comment were .Alpha Delta Pi,
Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta
and Kappa Delta.
An alumni group In New York
who attended the Kingston Tech
nical Schol in Kingston Jam
aica, West Indies, have formed
an alumni association to help
youngsters in their homeland at
tend their alma mater.
Called the Kingston Technical
Association, it will present its
first annual dance at the Carlton
Terrace, on December 27 with
music by Claude “Fats Greene
and his orchestra.
