uo Branch NAACP held its month
ly meeting recently at St. Clem
ents Episcopal Church, presided
by Miss Doris Waters.
Several reports were read by
committee chairmen including
membership labor and industry
and church work committee. On
membership,'James Little an
nounced the organization's 1963
goal will be 700 new members.

throughout the city and try to

objectives will be to encourage

Mrs. Ida Cullen Copper, widow

has been urged by leaders of
the American Negro Leadership
Conference on Africa to provide
educational refuge In the United
States for African students now
in Bulgaria.
In a telegram to Rusk, Roy
Wilkins, chairman of the con
tinuing committee of the ANLCA
and NAACP executive secre
tary said:."The recent African
student uprising in Bulgaria
points up the world-wide need
for African students to be ed
ucated for leadership in a free
society."

conference last November at
Harriman, New York, on U.S
policy in Africa.
