Sarah's Hubby Files By DAVE HEPBURN Sarah Vaughan's estranged husband, theatrical manager C. B. Atkina, filed an action for di vorce from his embattled wife. Tuesday, on the grounds of men tal cruelty, in Hackensack. N.J. Although it was rumored that Miss Vaughan had filed for di vorce in Trenton, Atkins, con tended it was just rumor and that in reality his wife had never fil ed. He admitted she was contem plating it. Battle falana lends AT TOWN HILL — At Brook lyn’s well known Town Hill The couple who have been hav ing a running battle for some months and who have been beset with many problems, including the imminent loss of an Engle Club and restaurant, dancer- wood Cliffs home for taxes, have , a now apparently split for good At- sm<?er kins felt for some time that his good ear to saxophooits Bobby wife would return. But Sarah's friends state that she has no rea- son and no intention of returning to the roost, mainly because she is still very angry at her hus band's past actions. One friend told the Amsterdam News that during her recent appearance at the Basin Street East Club, Sa rah would not go on one night un til her husband had been remov ed from the audience. Parting Of Ways What seems to make the part ing now more definite is the fact that Sarah has taken all her bus iness out of the hands of her hus band, who formerly managed her, and formed the new Sarah Vaughan Enterprises.
