CORE The Modern Jazz Quartet, Tom Poston, Rudy Vallee, Jimmy Rushing and Clark Terry will be among the headliners at special performance for New York CORE at the Apollo Theatre on May 31 at midnight. Dick Grego­ ry will entertain via long distance telephone from California. Hal Jackson will act as emcee. Part of the proceeds from the benefit will be given to a trust fond for the children of William L. Moore, the CORE member who was murdered in Alabama while on a Freedom Walk from; Tennessee to Mississippi for inte­ gration. Among the other stars who will appear at the gala midnight show are Tito Puente, Ray Bar­ rett o, Marie Knight, Tert Fran- cis, Marie SimmoM, Jean Shep­ ard, Curlie Hamner, and Her­ man Foster.
