Bribery
Ptl Stewart Purvis Jr., 36. of
527 Homan Ave., Cloeter, N. J.,
was found guilty on four counts
of bribery by a Supreme Court
Tuesday night.
The patrolman, who was as
signed to the West 126th St. Pre
clnct, was guilty of attempting
to get e women to testify she
was assaulted outside instead
of inside a bar which is located
at 1421 Amsterdam Ave
According to testimony. Cyn
thia Astoria, JO. a n expectant
mother accused Shelly Bragg,
36. of 86 Shepherd Ave.. Tea-
neck, N J., of assaulting her in
side the bar on October 12. She
first signed a complaint stating
she was assaulted outside the
bar, but later changed the com
plaint and stated that she was
assaulted Inside the bar
Mrs. Astoria testified that she
was given five torn $20 bills to
change her testimony again stat
ing she was assaulted outside in
stead of Inside the bar. The
matching* halves of the bills
were found in the officer's pock
