Action Group Meets On Crime The increasing problem of crimes and narcotics addiction in Harlem will be discussed at a special emergency meeting of the Uptown Manhattan Action Committee on Saturday. August 3, at 12 noon, at PS 21. 155th St., and Amsterdam Avenue. As­ semblyman Mark T. Southall an­ nounced. Mr. Southall said Civil Service Commissioner George Gregory. Jr., will keynote the afternoon conference, after which groups will meet in panels on civil rights, housing and education, narcotics addiction, police pro­ tection. and Job opportunities, where they will make recom­ mendations for constructive no­ tion to improve conditions in Harieir. Four Held On Stolen Goods Count Three men and a woman, charged with receiving stolen property, are being held for a hearing this week in Criminal Court. Joseph Sinclair, 31. of River­ head, Long Island; Heywood Wil­ liams. 29. of 2728 Eighth Ave.; and Shirley Sullivan, 21, and Horace Smith, 24, both of 148 W. 127th St , were arrested by Det. Donald Sargeant of the W. 153rd St. detectives Friday night and charged with possessing stolen property. Police said they found eight travelers checks which police be­ lieve to be the proceeds of a burglary and a saxaphone which was valued at $586 which Wil­ liams told police be bought from a man for $55. ' Police later discovered the in­ strument was stolen from the automobile of Stanley Turrentine of 40 W. 135th St on July 24 Judge Herman Weinkranti held Sinclair in no bail. Williams in $1,000 bail and paroled Miss Sul­ livan and Smith. Pinsky Gets Urban Renewal Staff Post WASHINGTON - Urban Re newal Commissioner William L. Slayton has announced the ap­ pointment of David E. Pinsky as Chief, Eligibility Staff.,Legal Di- vision. Urban Renewal Adminis­ tration. Most recently Associate Pro­ fessor of Law at Rutgers Uni­ versity School of Law, Mr. Pin- sty, 41, ter been engaged in both private and public practice of law since 1960 A native of Camden, NJ., and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (A.B., 1948), Mr. Pinsky received his LL.B degree cum laude from the same uni­ versity in 1950 From 1962 to 1964. Mr. Pinsky worked on the le­ gal staff of the NAACP Legal De­ fense and Education Fund. Inc.'
