Kreitman, president of the Brooklyn Rab­ binical Aaaembly, was named as the acting chairman of a Brook­ lyn citizens* action committee formed by Borough President Abe Stark to combat racial bias. Rabbi Kreitman, leader of the Brooklyn Jewish Center, the bor­ ough's largest synagogue, accep­ ted his appointment by Borough President Stark as the 30-mem ber group of church, business, civic and other community re­ presentatives met at Borough Hall and agreed on rules of pro­ cedure including formation of sub-committees for ac’ion on spe­ cific problems. The group agreed formally to ,'dentify Itself as the Brooklyn Borough President’s Citizens* Ac­ tion Committee for Equal Op­ portunity. In a two-hour meeting at Bor­ ough Hall, the group voted to direct the establishment of at least six sub-committees U> act in matters of importance to the community. The major committees will act on educational problems, op­ portunities for employment and the elimination of racial pockets of unemployment and improved opportunities for housing accom­ modations and the betterment of urban areas. Eight additional appointments to the group's membership were announced by Mr. Stark. New Appointees The new appointees are Dr. Aaron Brown, of the New York City - Board of Education. Parham, director of the Brook­ lyn Branch of the Urban League; Russell Service, director of the Bedford Y.M.C.A.; Mrs. Carmen Barrow, an active member of PTA groups in Brooklyn’s Puerto Rican community; Grover Mos- cowitz, executive vice president of the Downtown Brooklyn As­ sociation, and Dr. Robert Palm- Rabbi Kreitman was ordained by the Jewish Theological Sem­ inary of America after being graduated with honors from Ye- shiva University. He received the degree of Doctor of Hebrew Lit­ erature from Jewish Theological Seminary for original studies in the field of Medieval Rabbinics. During World War II, he served as a U. S. Navy chaplain. He is a member of the Chaplaincy Commission of the Jewish Wel­ fare Board of the New York Board of Rabbis and also serves as co-chairman of the Annual In­ stitute of Mental Health projects administered by Yeshiva Univer­ sity. Petition Drive For 3rd Party AMITYVILLE — The insurgent third party movement in Suf­ folk County which commenced its petition drive August 2 under the name. “The Justice Party,” announced last week that they have signed over 1.000 names, with only 500 more needed to meet the minimum official pe­ tition requirement for new party JIC registration. The signature drive is being, conducted by the Committee for the Election oi Calvin C. Cobb to District Court Judgeship in. Babylon Town.
