AMSTERDAM r- NEWS’ So*-, Sept. 28,1963 Fashions To Japan Japaa will have an opportun­ ity to Me flrvt hand high fashion from America when the New York Couture Group flies a col­ lection to Tokyo in November, it ; was announced today by Miss Kittle Campbell, press director. .-The New York Couture Group goes at the invitation of Tokyo's large store Takashimaya for its fashion festival on November sth and 8th. a Larry Aldrich, president of the New York Couture Group, said "there will be about 150 pieces In the collection, fall and winter fashions and some holiday crea­ tions." The latter will be photo­ graphed against colorful Japan­ ese backgrounds. Members of the New York Couture Group participating in the show are. Mr. Aldrich, Har­ vey Berin, Bran ell, Hattie Csr- negie. Oleg Cassini. Countess Al­ exander, Davidow, Gothe. Arthur Jablow, Junior Sophisticates, Nat Kaplan, Monte-Sano & Pruian. « Originala, Paul Parnes, Pattul lo-Jo Copeland, Ben Reig, Mau rice Rentner. Herbert Sondheim. Townley, Hannah Troy, Samuel Winston, Anthony Blotta and Teal Traina. Miss Campbell assembled and will accompany the New York Couture Group show to act as commentator, helped by a Jap­ anese partner to act as trans­ lator. Recip­ ients of the chain-letters, in '.urn, will be asked to send similar letters to people on their own holiday card lists. The Links, Inc., a national wo­ men's civic, cultural and social organization has launched its 1983 Christmas Card Substitute Campaign for the benefit of the National Urban League, it was announced today by Mrs. Fran­ ces T. Forsythe of Montclair, N. J., national campaign chair­ man. Her husband, Dr. Albert E. Forsythe, the plan's originator, said the 1963 campaign has a goal of $500,000, which will be conducted as a nation-wide chain- letter. Mrs. Forsythe, the former Frances Chew Turner of Tren­ ton , N. J., suggested the fund­ raising idea to the Links organ­ ization three years ago, as a new means of supporting the work of social agencies like the National Urban League. Raised $35,000. This plan, on a limited settle,' was carried out. and, in the for­ mer years, has raised $35,000. Funds were given to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in 1980 nnd 1961. Last year, the proceeds went to the Urban League. This year's drive is the first to be conducted on a national level.' The Links' membership con­ sists of 1,500 persons, in 97 chap­ ters will send a letter contain­ ing a bright holiday message and an appeal for funds.
