IS, 1963 The Harry Dayes On Honeymoon Miss Constance Durant, daugh­ ter of the late Rev. E. Elliot Durant founder and pastor of St. Ambrose Protestant Episco-' pal Church, was married on Oc­ tober 10 to Harry O. A. Dayes noted Barrister and Industrialist of Kingston ana Montego Bay, Jamaica, W.I. and are on their honeymoon here in the city. Friends and members of the family have entertained for them including last Saturday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Green were host and hostess at a cocktail party at their apart­ ment in Riverdale. J Negro Men Cite Women The Contribution of the Negro woman during the Emancipation Century will receive accolades from Negro men at a Tribute Awards Banquet, November 16, in the Congressional Room of the Statler Hilton Hotel in Wash­ ington. D. C. The recognition is one of the highlights of the 28th annual con­ vention of the National Council of Negro Women which opened November 13 at the Statler. Honorees and their fields of achievement are Mrs. Harriett Wright Hines of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in business; Mrs. Daisy Bates of Little Rock, Ar­ kansas in civil rights and educa­ tion; Mrs. Diane Nash Bevell of Atlanta,' Georgia, in civil rights end youth leadership and Dr. jTemmie Kittrell of Washington, b. ARTIN Pride of Cognac < REMY MARTIN African Ladies At Lighthouse A group of approximately 30 African and American women will tour the Lighthouse Indust­ ries plant in Long Island City on November 20, to observe 175 blind workers operating high­ speed. power-driven machines, and at other jobs in the plant at 36-20 Northern Boulevard. The African women are wives of delegates to the United Nations from countries where blindness is an acute probHyn. and where there is a much higher percent­ age of blindness than in the United Stages. The American visitors to the factory are volunteer workers is the Women’s Africa Committee of the African-American Insti­ tute. Some of them will act as interpreters, since the African ladies come principally from French-speaking nations. Guests Expected Among those invited are Mrs. S. O. Adebo, wife of the Am­ bassador from Nigeria; Mrs. Na­ than Barnes, wife of the Am­ bassador from Liberia; Mme.
